Two For The Price Of One

Psst ... Fellas, do I have a secret for you ... so come close and lean in to hear (ok, ok read) all about my deal-y of the day ... not only did I write out and post one Manly Monday post earlier today (all about the bargain-y beanie) but I'm also letting you in on a second super shopper's sale/entry going on right now with Tulle's clothing line for men, Cloth Logic, 'til today's end! (Please, hold your applause, because you'll need your hands/fingers free to click on over and start hunting here)

Go on, GET!
(and just try your oh-so-hardest not to fall for the Tartain Plaid Long Wool and Mick coats! Yummy.)

The Beanie Boys

I happen to particularly adore a man that dons a beanie atop his head (there's something so darn cute about it) so I thought why not pick out some favorites (black, red and white with a splash of yellow seems to be the obvious theme for my hat tastes this morning) to include in this Manly Monday post? It's winter, it's cold and it's the perfect time to slip one on and walk out the door.

Elm Company Wildlife Beanie (doesn't it just make you want to snuggle up and cuddle?) and Billabong Circuit Beanie (I like how it looks like a pencil sketch or drawing)

Burton Burrrglar Beanie (I smirked and let out a giggle when I saw this cap) and Neff Cheetah Beanie (I can't help it ... I've got something for animal prints this year)

Technine Paisley Beanie (the subtle paisley print makes this so stylin') and DC Parkyr Beanie (I just liked the three checkered colors and you can never go wrong with plaid)

Hm. You know ... come to think of it ... the title of this post would be a killer band name, no? The Beanie Boys. Yeah.  I like it.  It's got a certain ring to it (oh wait, I think a name pretty close to that has already been taken. Shoot.)

The beanie bargain prices range from $20.95 - $24.95

Crafty Little Chickadee

Meet Amy.

This is the girlie that comes bouncing into the doorway, and as soon as you look up, she greets you with the warmest (and most genuine) smile like seeing your face is the best thing that has happened in her day.

Working with this chickie is an utter delight (such an understatement) because she has the visual prowess of a merchandising master (if I could bow down to her and kiss her feet, I would ... gladly) Just one look from across the room and we're both grabbing onto our tummies a little tighter as to somehow muffle the giggles that are bound to escape from our mouths within the next passing second.

If that wasn't enough (trust me, readers, there is so much more) she is also an incredibly craft-tacular (one of those made up words o' mine again because real words just don't do her deserved justice) gal.  I mean, see for yourself over at her website: H is for Handmade.  She must know that not all of us were blessed with hands that can whip up all things pretty because she so kindly and graciously (I told you she was a sweetheart) gives us step by step instructions on just how to produce the pretties with end results like these that are bound to get you nothing but oohs and ahhs:

Felt Chrysanthemum Pillow
(the darling of DIY darlings, no?)

and

Silhouette Luminaries
(me likey)

If you haven't fallen head over heels in love with her yet (really is that even possible?) then I suggest that you also read her personal/family blog Poppies and Papercuts (again, could that name/title be any cuter? Whoa. I just had a Chandler from Friends moment) Trust me when I say you HAVE to read her latest "froggy" post and I dare you not to want to grab your tummy to hold in your giggles!  So darn funny.

She's also a HUGE believer in supporting local creative types (even lil' bloggers like me, garsh) and I thought what better way than to shine the spotlight on her today in this Wednesday Website Of The Week entry to show her even just a bit of my thanks and gratitude for being such a great work bestie and buddy in the medium that this self-proclaimed wordy works best in: this blog o' mine.

Thanks, Amy.  You're the bestest.

Wash The Day Away

Every day after a consultant-filled day of helping lovely Lucille Elaine ladies pick the just-right-looks-so-darn-good-and-hugs-all-my-curves-frock ... I'm just too spent and exhausted to even have to think about doing a long, grueling, tedious 10-step face-washing routine at night.

That's where Olay and the Daily Facials Express Wipes come in oh-so-handy.  Literally all I have to do is pull one out from the easy (and resealable) tab/stickered packaging and do one quick swipe over my made up face and I'm done.  It takes off everything the first time: mascara, eyeshadow, blush, concealer, powder (even my bright red lips!)

Then all that's left for me to do is slather on my Olay moisturizer and crawl right under all my comfy-cozy blankets (all 10 of them) and close my eyes knowing that for just around $6, I've got a so fresh and so clean mug that allows me some totally desired extra sleep time before needing to wake up the next morning and do it all over again.  Priceless.

For The Boys

With Friday's entry all about the ladies and the fabulously chic and bargain-tastic clothing line Tulle (don't forget to vote, vote, vote for my red balloon bestie in the photo contest) I just couldn't leave the fellas out (oh yeah, they design for men too) so this post is for the boys.

Since winter is officially upon us (evidenced by my ever-so-slow drive home from work last night following closely behind any big SUV or truck I could find to stay inside the white lane lines) I thought it oh-so-appropriate to showcase coats galore so you boys could feel super stylish even in the snowy weather (and if it gets too cold out there for us gals, we can know we will be uber stylin' as well when you peel off your layers and offer up your jackets for us to wear - just like the gentlemen we know you already are)  Don't forget to check the slashed prices on all the pieces too - just like the sign on their site reads: be stylish and lovely with our vintage inspired line from an affordable price (alright, Tulle, I think we will ... thank you very much!)

$39.20 Zip-Up Short Trench Coat

$58.00 Zip Up Coat

$53.20 Brushed Canvas Trench

$59.20 Wool Toggle Coat

$42.00 Basket Weave Canvas Coat

$42.00 Corduroy Sherpa Jacket

$52.00 Long Wool Coat

$51.20 Wool Double Breasted Coat

$32.00 Polyfilled 4 Pocket Jacket

$60.00 Shirt Jacket

$48.00 Single Breasted Coat

Now that's what I call having the right tulles in your toolbox!

There's no way that you won't be (and stay) comfy-cozy and toasty-wam with the chilly wintry weather in these classic coats, boys ...

Tulle Time

TULLE is a super adorable, affordable (my heart goes *pitter pat* whenever I hear that word) line of darling clothing (think that bright, poppy cardigan that will go with everything in your closet or that essential denim pencil skirt that hugs every last curve making you want to do nothing but strut and sashay wherever you go) that we at the lovely Lucille Elaine boutique are lucky enough to proudly carry and have hanging (and shine-shining) on our racks for all of our visiting bombshells to fall for and see.

Imagine my utter delight when I found out from a chic cohort o' mine (aka co-worker) that this too darn cute line is hosting a contest where competitors point and click (and shoot) by taking pictures of their style-y selves while wearing their best Tulle ensemble and then the public (you pretties, you) gets to vote on which one they like the very bestest.

I've already got my ballot and vote in for my hands-down favorite who just so happens to be my fabulous fellow shopgirl (love me that chickadee and I have absolutely no doubt that you will too once you see her entry below)

Drumroll, please ...

TA-DA!  Um, yeah.  How could you not want to choose this image as the whimsical winner? I mean, there's a red balloon, people ... a red balloon!

All that's left to do is for you to click on over, sign in or up (you must be a Tulle customer in order to be eligible to put your two fashion-y cents in) and let your voice (and vote) be heard.  So make it count here.

Thank you.

This message was brought to you by Bargain Bex (BB to all her bloggin' besties - ahem - that would be all of you, my beauties)

Eight Really Is Great

When getting my shop on, I never go forth intending to find any one thing of particular greatness (I like the element of surprise that goes with the thrill of the bargain hunt) but I do enjoy a certain surrounding when on the prowl: the happy ring-ringing of cash registers, the sliding of hangers on racks and the wheels of shopping carts rolling around me. (If I could put it to song, make a musical out of it, and go on Broadway, I'm sure it would be a smash hit amongst bargainistas and critics alike)

On one such Saturday, I was in full shopping garb (comfortable, sensible yet stylish shoes, leggings and an oversized sweater and a mix-matchy bag) when I saw a bright ray of sunshine peeking out from under a pile of beauty products: the happy yellow tube of Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream to my left.

I picked it up, examined the contents, and realized that I didn't even know that I had been looking for and needed the perfect sunscreen for my fair complexion (and the fact that it had a lovely red sticker price of $8 convinced me so)

I now quite happily smooth and smear this onto my face every morning and it oh-so-kindly offers me the choice of either wearing foundation atop or going au naturale because it leaves my sometimes-too-splotched-out-cheeks a nice and natural rosy hue (just like I've been pinched by nature's goodness)

So Eight Hour Cream for eight dollars?  I'm beginning to wonder if the number 8 should be my new lucky number ... Hmm ...

The Streetstyle Shutterbug

I was invited (via e-mail) by the man behind the lens of Citizen Couture to take a peek into his new fashion world as he ventures into all things streetstyle.

Upon clicking onto his "About" section, I began to realize that if we were ever to meet in person, I was sure we would get along famously for he has said goodbye to the corporate world and hello to his love of all things stylish (much like this shopgirl has started her own bargain-blogging adventure)  Read it in his words:

"Before February of 2009, I was a tax professional working for a large public accounting firm. After several years in the industry, I decided to explore my creative side that I had suppressed since childhood and so I purchased my first DSLR camera Spring of 2008, where I began exploring and capturing NYC and its people. While I was building comfort with photography, it also slowly carved the path that developed my love for journalizing street-fashion.

Citizen Couture was created shortly after my attempt to document the Mercedes-Benz 2009 Fall Fashion Week in New York City; an idea due largely through the inspiration of The Sartorialist and the support of my friends/family. My project is not only to capture the diversity of inspirational looks, but to also build a connection between the individual and the readers of this blog. Although Citizen Couture is still a work-in-progress, I hope that these fascinating people that I meet, whether through their own individual style or creative work, may inspire others."

- Jason

I think I speak for all of his devoted fans when I say I am so glad that he is no longer a tax professional because his candid shots of style are truly amazing and are the reason I happily visit his site at least once a day (if not so many times more) and his personalized captions make you feel like you were right there beside him, assisting him in his photoshoot ... it's also why I think a trip to New York should somehow be planned into my not so distant future so I can see for myself some of the subjects he photographs walking those ever-so-stylin' city sidewalks (and perhaps daydream of being an uber famous fashion and bargain-y blogger that he'll just so happen to want to stop and shoot)

Here is just a taste (and evidence) of his work:

Kate Lanphear: Style Director (U.S. Elle)
(yes, this picture still makes me want to dye my short locks platinum)

Susie Lau: Blogger Extraordinaire (Style Bubble)
(Please oh please may I be brave enough to put together such fabulous style combinations and have the confidence to rock it?)

Trevor
(Stripes? Cuffed Jeans AND Chucks? *Sigh*)

Karl-Edwin Guerre: Writer/Photographer
(Don't even get me started with how perfect this is. There are just no words)

There's just something so addicting, so fascinating about seeing people through another's eyes and what catches their interest and attention (not to mention that we are able to see how one may put certain colors or styles together for a perfect combination of sass and savvy)

Please excuse me, but I must go now and make my second trip of the day over to Jason's world at Citizen Couture.  Won't you join me?

Yay For Giveaway Day!

Giggles began to erupt from me as soon as I read a lovely little note jotted for me (and you) from my fabulous friends over at Ideeli about a glamorous giftie giveaway (Dermablend travel size foundation kits) that they wanted you, my dear readers, to know all about and I am oh-so-happy to oblige.

Dermablend foundation has been a beauty secret of mine (and in my makeup vocabulary)  ever since being introduced to department store cosmetics way back when (we'll leave the exact time of 'when' to the imagination - I mean, a girl has to have some beauty secrets left in her arsenal, right?)  But I have happily recommended and applied this brand to many a bride to cover up and camouflage any imperfections one may want hidden from peering, curious eyes.  It's glides on ever-so-smoothy and stays put all day ... and then some.  Compliments will abound, promise.  I couldn't recommend it any more highly if I tried.

So ... now to the good stuff.  With mouse firmly in hand, clickety-click right here and all you gotta do is leave your most clever comment about a beauty secret you have that makes you feel just like a star below the post and why you need to and should be a lucky recipient of this foundation/face fixer.

Good luck, my pretties!

Sparkle And Shine

I never really thought that I would be one to be drawn to all things shim-shimmery (forever fearing I may turn out resembling a disco ball gone wrong) but today as I write this entry, I have to eat those words.

When I had my new Urban Outfitters Holiday Catalog in hand, I had quite the preconceived notion that I would turn a few pages, admire some prettiness, and be done with it all.  Famous last words.

Not only do the sparkles shine brightly in the breathtaking photos (you know you're done for when you close your eyes and imagine yourself as the shoot's model sitting all bedazzled and bejeweled), but so do the prices (the key to unlocking this bargainista's heart)

Don't just take my word for it, look at the dazzlers:

Silence & Noise Sequin Cardigan ($68) and Silence & Noise Sequin Skirt ($88)

Silence & Noise Metallic Jumper ($58) and Silence & Noise Sequin Blazer ($98 - Online Only!)

BleachBlack Rhinestone Necklace ($38) and EEK! By Eugenia Kim Cocktail Hat ($34)

Silence & Noise Sequin Argyle Top ($48) and Silence & Noise Sequin Slip ($32)

Silence & Noise Sequin RacerBack Tank ($38) and Silence & Noise Striped Sequin Sublimated Tank ($32)

Kimichi Blue Sparkle Skimmer ($28) and Deena & Ozzy Iridescent Heel ($58)

UO Jewel Box Bracelet ($28) and Draped Rhinestone Earrings ($24)

After seeing these stunners, I think it's safe to say (as I have no doubt you'll agree after you pick your jaws up off the floor from seeing their sparkly, shiny-clad selves) that it's about time we all start to shine, shine on (even if we do resemble disco balls) ...
