Look, weather gods, I know that April showers are supposed to bring May flowers, but this is getting ridiculous.  I'm SO ready to start wearing a wardrobe that matches May's warm decor instead of April's chilly one.  I guess I'll just have to rock (and wear) my own spotted coat for now ... BUT you can't stop me from opting to see this weather-wonky world through gold, glitter-covered glasses like the lady above until then.  Deal?

Peel 'N' Stick

It took me long enough, but I finally tested and tried Sally Hansen's Salon Effects - Real Nail Polish Strips.  And as I was applying and smoothing with the given cuticle stick, I couldn't help but snicker at remembering all those times when I would painstakingly glue Lee Press-On Nails on at the kitchen table (only to have them pop off at the first attempt at doing anything).  Luckily, these glitters (my shade of choice: Frock On) went and stayed on much easier.  And they're sparkly.  And you know this magpie can't resist sparkles.  Verdict?  Two glittered-out thumbs WAY up.

The Dark Crystal

I'm on an obvious accessories kick as of late and when I first saw these crystal concoctions (over in Unruly Things' neck of the woods) I knew they would serve as the perfect postable pieces for a little hinting as to what this birthday girl might like to have wrapped around her finger come May.  So ... any five and two ring, necklace or earring will do the present trick just fine, family and friends.  Just fine indeed ...

Colorblockin' Combo

I thought I'd try my hand at finding another lovely look for my closet today after seeing it modeled so adorably by Izzy over on the YeYe! Style Blog and because I've decided I'm in desperate need of some more color in my (wardrobe) life, especially with summer sooon rolling 'round. I also thought it'd be fun to play around a bit and turn it upside down by switching it to a red silky, chiffon-y dress (because I can never say no to a peter pan collar) and purple polka-dotted tights instead with a pair of white flats with a big ol' black-bowed accent to top it all off.  Pretty cute little copy, no?

The Heart Of The Matter

My heart skipped a beat many moons ago when I first laid eyes on this Dark Pony Designs brooch and I haven't been able to get it out of my head (or the ticker o' mine) since ... so naturally ... I had to have it.  It came to my door wrapped all lovely-like and I couldn't love it any more if I tried.  Seriously.  I want to have it on my person at all times ... and when it's not ... I find myself sneaking peeks at it to make sure it's still safely tucked away until the next time I can wear it.  Come to think of it ... do you think it would it be too much or considered overkill to wear it to bed too?  Just curious ...

Easter Sunday Style

Easter Sunday usually means a girlie-fied and pastel-y palette chock full of all things ruffled and frock-y for me, stylistically speaking.  But, this year, I thought it would be fun to switch it up a bit and maybe wear something else entirely like a cute little striped bow tie, sweater vest and some cuffed trousers with oxfords instead.  And by the looks of it, American Apparel agrees with me.  But whatever the wardrobe of the day, here's hoping for a happy and super stylish Chicks and Bunnies Day!

Doll Face

As much as I LOVED the original topic for this particular post's illustration (a girl can never have too many tuxedo-like jackets/blazers in her wardrobe arsenal), I couldn't help but keep going back to an ad I saw for Sephora in my latest issue of my personal beauty bible, Lucky magazine, where the model had the exact rosy-cheeked complexion as the oh-so-prettily handpainted picture above.  And I fully intend to imitate said look with one (or all) of the products listed for the sincerest form of (flushed) flattery possible.

Baggy Blues

With this sartorially-shot denim(ed) dame as my only necessary picture inspiration, I set out to shop for my very own pair of seriously style-able boyfriend jeans ... the baggier, the better.  And I found 'em.  Oh, yes I did.  Online.  At Old Navy.  Right here.  And ordered them one (or two) sizes bigger to ensure the perfect state of bagginess.  Purple-tipped hair possibly soon to follow ...

A Crowning Achievement

I have long been a fan of a fancy hairdo, particularly anything pretty and plait-related, but have also always known the most I can actually begin to successfully achieve in lieu of hairstyles on my own head is a simple elasticized pony and/or bun (that is, unless I want to call on the prowess of my stylist sister every time I'm in the mood for a milkmaid-ish mane) but I thought I'd be nice (and a little savvy) and save my sis the time, give her a braiding break, and just wear this beguiling bright blue crown instead.  Brilliant, no?

Lash Out Loud

I've been focusing for I don't even know how long on all things lipstick-related and have neglected another one of my face's features: my big ol' bug eyes.  Well ... no more.  With this wand in hand - all locked and loaded - I plan on coating the crud out of my lashes, especially the lowers ... and giving a whole new meaning to LOL: Lash(ing) Out Loud.

I was blessed with a pretty big ol' Tyra-esque forehead (see here) that I've recently come to embrace and love (maybe because I've watched so many self-accepting seasons of Top Model now) but never before thought to wear a headband right smack dab in the middle of it like a halo for all to see.  Huh.  Until now.  And all thanks to Miss Banks and this minty fresh little beaded beauty ...

The Blouse House

The minute, no ... the second I saw this baby blue ruffle-y goodness of a blouse on Miss Coury, I crossed my fingers while simultaneously scrolling down to see where she got it - really, really hoping it wasn't a one-of-a-kind vintage piece - because I so very badly wanted it for my own.  As luck would have it, she scored it right here.  Now all I have to do is find the perfect pair of bright red pants to complete this colorful (future) closet concoction ...

Tat Talk

I know I'm all talk when it comes to tattoos ... for now.  But one day I will get the above tattoo on the nape of my little neck.  I will.  It's ruby red, it's got the girlie-girl stamp of approval, and it would look beyond adorable peeking out from under a messy little blonde ballerina bun.  So, until that day comes (you know, when my wallet actually has some green in it) I'll be referring back (and back and back) to this prettified photo for a much-welcomed ink(ed) reminder ...

I did just what I said I'd do.  With my cosmetic cohort by my side (C-Dog, I just pounded my chest for you, baby) I bought that MAC Cyber lipstick shade and rocked the ever-livin' crapola out of it for this particular "shoot" with big ol' black-lined eyes all mascaraed up and an exaggerated and slicked-back 'do.  And I gotta admit, the super dark purple-y shade has me rethinkin' this whole good girls finish first thing ...

I cracked open and read this fortune the other day: Simplicity in style will bring desirous eyes your way.  I think my instant reaction was to roll my eyes and laugh, no, guffaw out loud at such a preposterous notion.  You see, I had just viewed the video above before that reading and knew none of that fortune to be true.  Real, authentic style means wearing what makes you feel most like yourself, whatever your age.  And if that means a bit of over-the-top-ness, then so be it.

All Knotted Up

The last time I knotted a shirt of any kind, I believe I was in elementary school rockin' the neon look with mismatched scrunchy socks and rolled-up sleeves.  It's so funny how everything fashion-y and trendy really does come back 'round again and again.  But thanks to the new line, Edith A. Miller, I'm pretty sure I can add some new stripe-y staples (and knots) to my wardrobe again without the worry of them going out of style.  And who knows ... maybe I'll throw some neon in there too ...

Lipstick Lust

It's been snowin' up a storm around these parts and I just can't wrap my head around anything soft, pastel-y or having to do with Spring when it's a blizzard outside  ... so seeing this STUNNING dark merlot-ish lipstick that pairs so well with the current weather, well, I just know I'll probably be making a run to my nearest MAC counter as soon as the roads clear and buying that exact shade in as many tubes as they have to sell me ...

Girls Who Wear Glasses

So ... since I've accepted that I have a total and complete obsession with all things black and eyeglass-y (we're talkin' lyin' awake at night wishin' and hopin' that one day soon I'll need to make a trip to the eye doctor and he'll give me a prescription for some real specs ... not just the plastic-y ones) I thought that I'd just go ahead and feed the insatiable habit o' mine some more and maybe just hang this piece in my bedroom as a reminder to keep my eye on the prize. Get it?  I think that's healthy, a sign of some real progress ... don't you?

Head-To-Toe

It's pretty darn rare for me to see a particular person's picture or outfit and literally wish I was them just so I could be wearing EVERYTHING that they are wearing ... but when I saw this pic over here ... well, I just about lost my ever-lovin' mind because all I could see was how much I wanted to look just like her, from head-to-toe. 

She's got the coolest version of Princess Leia buns I've ever seen, she's got the black horn-rimmed glasses, she's got the ruby red lipstick, she's got the high-collared chiffon-y blouse, she's even got the rosebud-laiden skirt AND black and white-ish striped tights with big ol' black platforms too!  Total and complete outfit perfection.  Times like a gazillion.  I mean ... Really.

With This Ring

Having never really ever been a fan of big ol' diamonds adorning ring fingers, I couldn't help but post this clever take on it all via this particular little porcelain pretty (that also just so happens to be my exact ring size, mind you) Too too cute if you ask me AND if  I was ever asked to marry some mister with this ring ... Technically, I already was a blonde (albeit a dark and dirty one) but when I saw this box o' color, I figured it was high time I go back on the bottle.  And that's just what I did.  For a teeny-tiny eight dollars I have all my blonde ambition back again.  Uh-huh.  Yeah.  Oh.  And I'm thinkin' of goin' by another nickname too: Goldilocks.  Seems fitting, no?

Drawing From Inspiration

I just don't think it's possible to ever have too many little black dresses in your closet.  There's no fashion police that would ever arrest you for such a closet crime ... because it just doesn't exist.  You can never ever, EVER go wrong with an lbd and I've decided I need to add yet another one to my own ... this time with a touce of lace.  And since I can't have the one pictured (err ... drawn) above, I'll have no problem in settling with this stunner instead.

Flower Power

As beautiful as this face o' makeup is (and what a totally rad tattoo I think it would make) I fear I am not a brave enough soul for something quite so permanent, but I did love the color palette used ... so much so ... that I thought I could at least muster up enough courage to wear something similar to it on my tootsies - like this patchwork-y pair of Toms shoes.  Just perfect for the warmer weather finally hinting of coming our way someday soon, at least I think its hinting so ...
