Gifted And Talented

I know my way around with a gift card.  I mean, I have been around the bargain block once or twice now ... and I wanted to let my purchasing prowess show again with my latest birthday buy: these mega marked-down booted beauties that will very likely have the heaviest of rotations with(in) my closet's contents ... and it's all thanks to my savvy sister's superb gift-giving talents ... we're quite the team, no?

Blast From The Past

When I was a little girl, whenever there was a need to dress up for any occasion, there were two accessory staples that I had to have on my body before any ensemble's transformation was complete: bright white tights (always wrinkled and bunched at the ankle, thankyouverymuch) and shiny black, patent-leathery shoes.  So when I saw this adorable twin bringin' it back, it brought me back.  Way back.  And awakened my need to have them both in my closet again.  What goes around really does come back 'round again, huh?

Living The Dream

I don't know if you're like me, but do you ever wonder and daydream what it would be like if you could look inside where (and how) some of your favorite designers live?  I've forever been a fan of everything Erin Fetherston creates from her platinum blonde braids to her ethereal-like dresses so when I actually got to sneak a little peek into her humble abode, she certainly lived up to my every (daydreamed) expectation.  And yes, I wish I was her roommate.  I'd even live in her closet.  But that goes without saying.

Birthday Girl

I've never been one for the spotlight.  Being the center of attention makes my cheeks instantly turn bright red just thinking about it.  I've forever-banned my family and friends from going out to restaurants with me on my special day to celebrate just in case they alert the wait staff to single me out with any kind of singing or clapping to announce such an embarrassing occasion.  But balloons?  Balloons I like.  The bigger, the better.  So when I spotted some over on Oh Joy! and found out that the company delivers out of state ... well, that's something a bashful birthday girl could possibly agree to for any and all future festivities ... especially if there were 31 one of 'em to mark a day like today.  Just sayin'.

Wearing The Pants

I've never had a problem with the girl wearing the pants in the relationship ... never.  It's liberating and so ... now.  So when I saw and read that Miss Emily scored her perfectly chic chinos (pictured above) in the men's section ... well, I was impressed, to say the least.  And envious.  Knowing I desperately wish I could pull off what she so easily does today, I think I'm going to take baby steps toward this particular style evolution and rock this pair first, working my way up to her evolved style status.  Besides, I'm kinda diggin' the usually-reserved-for-men-only suspenders anyway ...

You Ain't Nothin' But A Hound Dog

Cryin' all the time.  But maybe, Mr. Presley, just maybe I'm cryin' because I know I won't be comin' up with one hundred and fifty smackers any time soon to be able to afford this totally cute, totally chic little Hound number that I want so badly to add to my wardrobe as a summer style staple.  Did you ever think of that?  Huh?  Well, did you?!

Pretty Sneaky

'Sporty' has never been a word to describe me or my style before ... especially when it comes to my footwear.  I'm much more of a platform, wedge-y kind of girl.  I think it's even safe to say I've never met a heel I didn't like.  But I couldn't help but fall head over heels (pun intended) for these Nike liberty-printed pretties.  They'd even look just as cute with all my summer skirts and dresses as my high-heeled friends.  Who knew?!  Huh.  I'm startin' to think I could get real used to this sporty (shoe) thing after all ...

Pink Eye

Trust me, I cringed just as much as you did as soon as I read that title too, but I couldn't help it.  It's such an appropriate name for this little pink-eyed post.  Gah!  I just did it again.  Bear with me and keep reading though?  Because I think this would be such a pretty take on the classic cat eye, don't you?  Instead of boring black or brown, why not swipe some pinky goodness on there instead?  That way, you'll be just as proud as I'd be to say you are sportin' pink eye around town.  Right?

Table Reads

Heaven knows I have an unfathomable amount of fashion magazines in my possession.  So many, in fact, that they have now taken residence inside a pink-painted trunk that is currently acting as a pseudo coffee table in my almost-finished bedroom redo.  So when I saw this picture of books functioning as a bedside table, well, I thought never have I seen anything more brilliant.  Really.  And I plan on creating two makeshift side tables of my own out of said mags and plopping a lamp or fan atop them because I like to think myself a clever copier decorator too ...

Bucket (Bag) List

Gone will be the days of lugging around abnormally large, humongously oversized classic-colored purses and bags all in the name of this fashion thing as soon as I get my hands on a small, aztec-printed bucket bag (like this one here) just like Miss Julie's beauty above.  And all that will be needed to carry?  Why, only a wallet, phone, keys and a lipstick, of course.  I can almost hear my poor aching back thanking me now ...

Clued In

I've had this shirt hanging in my closet for over a month now having absolutely no clue how to wear or what to pair it with ... that is ... until I saw Kim in the soft and silky color combo above.  And with shirt in hand, I guess I'll just have to get this blush-y skirt to go with it and finish the look by tying up in these platforms (in a just-purchased creamy camel color) to hopefully look just as chic as she.  So thanks, Kim, for cluing me in.  I owe you one.

Against All Odds

I think the universe may be trying to tell me something subliminally ... err ... photographically that I'm just now starting to pick up on.  Like how I really, really, really should have dark roots with super light ends cut into a perfect bob atop my head by now instead of the au naturale shade and forever-growing-out layered look I'm sportin'.  But, hey, at least I have the black horn-rimmed glasses and red lip thing down.  Two outta three ain't bad, right?

Silver Surfer

It's been established I ain't no swimmer.  I'm not even a shallow end wader.  I'm a magazine-readin', poolside-sittin', fruity drink sipper.  Yep, I'm one of those gals that likes to show off her stylin' swimwear, but never actually get it wet.  And this year, I found just the platinum pieces to do it with: this just-my-size disco ball-y top and these shiny little bottoms to which I'll pretend are actual swim trunks just because I can ... and because I've always preferred silver over gold anyway ...

Hit Me With Your Best Spot

I just about died when I spotted these shoes on Betty.  I want them.  I want them so bad I'm pretty sure I'm gonna dream about them tonight.  But since I can't have them, I found some over on H&M's spectacular site to stalk until they actually open a store near me 'by year's end' {fingers crossed}.  And I wouldn't put it past me, once I have them in my possession, to go to the craft store and glue some golden-y glitter on them ... like ... immediately.

The Devil Inside

I've heard it been said that the devil's in the details.  If that's so, then I am so ready to be bad.  Or at least wear bad now that I've seen this criss-crossy, creamy-dreamy little frock (thanks to size too small's stylish eye) and besides, there's something kind of devilishly sexy about this dress anyway knowing that you'll be getting noticed just as much (if not more) for walking away than walking towards something or someone, don't you think?  Guess the devil really is in the details.  Huh.

Mission: Possible

A Wink Of Pink

Sometimes I forget about the fun of fashion.  Waking up for another routine morning of pulling yet another monotonous little uniform out.  My usual?  Anything black, white or grey because everybody knows those colors go with everything, right?  But why not pair them with a wink o' pink like the J.Crew model above for a pretty little splash o' summertime?  I even found a pastel-y pair that fit right into my current teeny-tiny bargain-y budget.  Kinda fun, no?

Master Class

I feel like I get style-schooled in a master (t-shirt) class every time I see a post from Love Aesthetics.  Seriously.  The things this girl comes up with from just an extra-large boyish white tee are incredible.  Whether she's harnessing and belting 'em up, turning them into makeshift and chic little mini dresses (like above) or knotting and tying 'em up into a slammin', super cute skirt (!) is just brilliant.  Really brilliant.  So I now happily (and humbly) bow down to this t-shirt teachin' genius.  And you should too.  For real.

Black Tie Affair

This gives a whole new meaning to 'black tie' attire, don't you think?  So, hypothetically speaking, if I were to ever receive an invitation for such a lovely and lavish little event ... I would most definitely wear the above TBA ensemble with a signature red lip, a swooshy cat eye and some teeteringly high black heels ... because that's just what the invitation would call for, right?

The Root Of The Problem

Remember my last month's turn as Goldilocks?  Well, folks, that was short-lived.  I couldn't help it.  As soon as I saw even a hint of a darker root happening atop my head, I just knew I wasn't up for the obvious upkeep that comes along with being a blondie-blonde.  So I went back to my roots and threw on this box of darker, almost-matches-the-'rootage'-pictured-above-perfectly blonde shade.  Maybe blondes do have more fun after all ... but just a little (naturally) darker while they're doing it ...

Housesitting 101

I'm most happily housesitting at the moment and really can't think of a better way to relax and unwind than to give myself a much-needed, meticulously red-hued pedicure along with a big ol', as-many-as-will-fit-in bubble bath, complete with my choice of music blaring in the background.  Oh yeah.  I should definitely do this more often ...

I'm obviously on some sort of bang bender because not only did I pretty recently rave about these cut cuties, but now I can't seem to think about (or want) anything else but the fresh little baby ones like Miss Katie above.  So darn darling, no?  Too bad my scissor sister will be M.I.A. Lately I've really been getting into this whole self-acceptance-of-my-looks thing.  Must be that I've ventured into a new decade - go thirties, go! - and am no longer as intimidated by famous features that I don't have (Angelina's pucker, anyone?) or feeling that I need to change to look like those celebrities I so often see and read about.  In fact, now I seem to notice our similarities instead.  Like Miss Mamie Gummer's thin little lips above that are just like mine.  Nice.  What about you?  What is your most fabulous and favorite feature?

A Crush With Eyeliner

I've pretty much always followed that old makeup artist rule of play up either the eyes or the lips, NEVER both at the same time, but I'm more than ready to do just that (maybe with a little green glow of my own) after seeing the gorgeously-lined eyes from Jil Sander's Fall 2011 faces (thanks to Marian) ... and I also can't help but think the rule of the thicker, the better may just apply to this saturated situation too  ...

Wiggin' Out

Having (proudly) tried dyed my hair almost every color of the rainbow, I couldn't help but wonder what I'd look like with one I haven't donned yet: bright, cotton candy pink-colored locks, especially after seeing (and reading) my first inspiration over on Elizabeth's pink-haired blog post.  Although I pretty much know I'll probably never ever really be brave enough to douse them in the sugary shade, I thought how fun would it be to do what Miss E did and just wig out for a bit?  And I think I found just the perfect pink piece to do so with ... if I'm ever brave enough. Whataya think?  Are you thinkin' pink now too?
