Thank Heaven For Little Curls

Jamie would have to go and get the perfect curly, girlie pretty perm right as I decided to hack off my own hair into a super short lil' pixie cut again, now wouldn't she?  Can you imagine how gosh darn easy breezy it must be to be able to wake up every morning and just tousle here and tousle there for a bit before walking out the door?   Argh.  Consider me jealous.  But.  At least I can scrunch, mold and spray my hair now to kinda sorta resemble my other hair icon, Miss Meg Ryan in City of Angels.   Phew.   Thank heaven for little curls ...

Something Up My Sleeve

I've got an ink itch to scratch.  I've wanted practically ever incantation of the things on my body at some point and time or another for about ... oh ... forever and a day now.  Everywhere from the nape of my neck and the inside of my wrists to the middle of my chest and the tops of my feet.  And today is certainly no different since seeing this pretty pic.   Now the only place I can even conceive of ever possibly getting one is as a half sleeve on my arm or arms.  Plural.  So yeah.  I'm totally and completely itchin'.  Itchin' for some ink.   BAD.

Petal To The Metal

I don't know what it is about the holidays, but they bring out the need in me to sparkle and shine just a teeny tiny bit more than usual.  So when Thanksgiving rolled on around, I knew just what I was going to pop into my ears to wear: my newly gifted Perfect Petals Diamond Stud Earrings from the bling believers over at Anjolee.  And there's no 'wattage stoppage' over in those pretty parts either.  Nope.  No siree.  Because they've got all the diamond earrings, diamond hoop earrings, stud earrings (to which my pixie is rather partial to) and diamond jewelry any bauble lover could ever need.  And then some.  They've even got me believing that maybe diamonds really are a girl's best friend (hint hint).   And once you see what they have a-sparklin', you will too.   Guaranteed.

Blue Steel

I like to think I'm a rule follower, at least most of the time.  Especially when it comes to makeup since I've done my fair share of time sellin' behind many a cosmetic counter.  So when they say do either a strong eye or strong lip, never both at one time, I tend to heed the advice.  And when I saw this step-by-step blue steel-ish lid look, I knew I'd be following the rules again.   At least this time.

Extra Pep(lum) In My Step

I'm a-thinkin' my particular body's shape was meant for a different time, a different decade, as per recent vintage frock-buying events.  Because all I have to do to get the perfect fit is go by my own measurements and those listed on my favorite dress sites (here and here) and I get a gorgeous garment that looks like it was made only just for me like the peplum pretty pictured.  Every time.

The S Word

There's a four letter word that is near and dear to this little bargaining heart o'mine: S-A-L-E.  Makes it flutter and go all pitter pat just thinkin' about the next one I'll find.  And when.  So combined with my penchant for all things shoe-y, it was just a matter of time before I spotted these priced-just-right pom pretties from ban.do that made my heart sing.   And on sale.   Pitter pitter pat.

Oh Me, Oh My!

That statement seems to be the only conceivable way I can begin to express to you just how very much IN LOVE I am with Miss Kara's new line of wears over on her stylish little shoppe, Stuff Kara Made.  I mean, I've already grabbed two of her men's tees (one in grey, one in cream) 'cause I like the looser, baggier fits and have my eye on a pretty pullover next.  I'm even gonna be sportin' a tee today for all of my Turkey Day festivities since I plan on hidin' all that extra foodie goodness I gobble up underneath one too.  So bring on the heaping spoonfuls of stuffing, potatoes and that pumpkin pie  --  Oh Me, Oh My!

Wristy Business

My rather large shiny silver menswear-ish-looking watch and I have adopted a newfound bangled purchasing philosophy as of late: the more, the merrier!  Since both these and these baubled beauties have been put in buying baskets recently by yours truly.  To which I have BIG plans to wear by piling 'em on both wrists in true Wonder Woman-y fashion just as soon as they arrive on my doorstep  ...

Man's Best Friend

I ain't gotta man.  Not right now, at least.  But if I did, I sure do know what he would be wearing underneath it all!  Uh-huh.  Oh yeah.  jac5, that's what.  'Cause any company that bases its whole existence, philosophy and brand around something as clever as humor and five particular jack russell pups and their personality traits already has me beggin' for more.  And, in the meantime, I have absolutely no problem sitting and daydreaming about which style my potential future asset-enhancing (and wearing) man will turn out to be: Loyal, Super Smart or Barking Mad.  Maybe even all three, yeah?  Or ordering and buying a few premiumly-fabric(ed) pairs for me to wear in the interim ... you know ...  just until I can be (my) man's best friend.

Ice Capades

On a recent episode of my guilty pleasure, Fashion Police, Giuliana Rancic let her dislike for the new wave of figure skater-y frocks (a la Selena Gomez in Marchesa) be known, but I'm kinda diggin' it.  Like when I see dresses like this Sally Jane Vintage collared Peggy Fleming-esque piece, I can't help but want to don it whether I plan on being on the ice or not ... with hot cocoa and hand-to-hold skating partner totally optional if and when I ever do decide to lace up.

Fuzzy Wuzzy

I sure do like the feel of a super soft something tickling my neck and arms as I pull it on to wear.  I can even still remember the first fuzzed-out off-white angora cropped cardigan I owned and put on top of practically everything I wore because it was so pet-able.  So no surprise that I found this pictured blue beauty more than acceptable as a style starting point for me to reference as I go a-lookin' for my own similarly soft and sweater-y versions.  Like here, for example.  Ahh, yes.  I sure do like fuzzy wuzzy wardrobing wonderness(es).

Cinematic Gold

Today's post is going to seem and feel like a bit of a departure from my norm since I'm veering a little off my constant closet-blogging course to talk cinema, but after seeing such a beyond breathtaking flick, I felt I had to.  And I figured you'd forgive me.  Melonchalia is, in my opinion, a movie masterpiece.  I was so enthralled after watching a mere two minutes of its preview, that I immediately ordered it thru my cable provider before it even hit theaters.  I just couldn't be bothered to wait.  And I'm so glad I didn't.  Because it's stayed with me, weeks after, ever since.  I daresay it's the prettiest thing I think I've ever seen on the small screen.  And surely will be once again when I (and hopefully you) see it on a big one.  Oh.  And Kirsten Dunst?  Other-wordly gorgeous in it.  And her wedding dress you see up there?  Only one word is truly worthy:  S-t-u-n-n-i-n-g.  Seriously.  So in the end, I guess I always really do come back to my norm of constant closet-blogging after all ...

Pity Party

I gotta score me some invites to Jordan's next party.  'Cause I really, really, REALLY wanna be able to take home pretty little giddy-inducing party favors like the fabulously floral banded ones above!  But enough about me and this pathetic little party favor pity party I seem to be attending while typing this post because the hostess-with-the-mostest has been kind enough to take pity on poor tantrum-ing me by posting a how-to-get hat tutorial for those of us unable to attend.  'Cause she's super sweet 'n' nice like that.  But.  I still really, really, REALLY wanna score some invites to her next party ...

The Gloved One

I've come to yet another closet conclusion: I need a new pair of gloves.  You'd think I'd already have pairs upon pairs of the things to spare given where I reside (in the land of  what feels like a thousand and one seasons of nothing but winter, winter and some more winter) but ... I don't.  In fact, I've just got one.  A purple leather-y pair.  (What is it with me and my penchant for purple accessories anyway?!?)  So I'd like to add a comfy-cozy pair to my slowly-but-surely glove-growing collection soon-ish.  And I think I shall start with these.

Fairy Frockmother

There are usually a whole heckuva lotta steps I gotta take when buyin' a vintage-y dress:  Guesstimates of measurements, peering at price tags and many times just a bunch of  hope-it-fits finger-crossin'.  So obviously not very many ever make it to hang in my closet.  Only because if I do happen to buy, they either don't fit and/or fall like they're supposed to on specifically-framed me. But that was before my Fairy Frockmother, Coury.  Now, one or two trips to her Fancytreehouse shoppe and my closet's FILLED full with frock upon frock of fit-to-me spots, dots (see pic) and fab-waisted florals.  Thanks, FF  ...

Thinkin' In Pink

Just sittin' here thinkin' 'bout how gosh darn lucky I am to be in possession of such pretty little(ish) danglers.  And how it all came about from just one lil' comment I made on this Kansas Couture Giveaway post.  Fast forward to a few days ago when I received my InPink gift certificate in the mail, hopped online and ordered not one, but two pairs of look-at-me earrings and then right on back to here where I'm just sittin' here thinkin' 'bout how gosh darn lucky I am to be in possession of such pretty little(ish) danglers  ...

Natural High

There are no words that have ever been written that I could possibly use to explain to you the total and complete rush I get when I've spotted (and nabbed) a perfectly-priced piece for my wardrobe.  Believe me, if there were such words, I would.  Probably in lengthy-paragraphed detail.  So maybe you should consider yourself lucky right about now.  'Cause all I have to say on this subject is when I saw that this suede-y shearling stunner was on sale for $45 down from $80, I actually squealed as I clicked to buy it.  Squealed.  Like a little school girl.   But after seeing the proof in this picture, I'm gonna go ahead and just assume you think me completely justified in this particular buy, mkay?

Wishing And Hoping

I'm trying real, real hard here not to wish I may, wish I might for that entire ensembled outfit up there (and that haircolor/'do and winged eyeliner too) to be mine-all-mine (and not hers) tonight.  Real, real hard.  But all hope is not lost, thank goodness gracious.  Because I am still in the running for the chance to at least wrap my hands (and neck) around that oh-so-silky candy-colored scarf.  Just as soon as she puts it on up for sale in her sweet shoppe ...

Silver Streak

I'm gilty.  So gilty, get it?  Because I can't just go and let gold get all the glory without letting silver have a say, you know?  So today I am featuring a pretty little silver-streaked number to end this sequin-strewn week of gilded-y wears.  A dress that all I want to pair it with is a tissue thin black turtleneck, some leggings and knee-high motorcycle boots.  Come to think of it, an outfit I'd now like to put into weekly winter wear rotation.  To which I say: Hi ho, Silver!

Gold Digger

I couldn't, in good faith, leave all the golden sparkly stuff just for the clothing and accessories this week, now could I?  No good blogger on an obvious glitter-ridden tangent could.  So I'm now taking my blinging binge to the face (and eyes).  In the form of some good old-fashioned fairy dust-like eyeshadow (that I'm actually wearing earlier this week, here) that I wouldn't be surprised by if it should show up on top of some lipglosses too 'cause it so should.  Just sayin'.

All About The Benjamins

I've got one simple postin' rule I like to follow on this little bargain-y blog o'mine: Don't write about anything over the one hundred dollar mark.  Simple enough.  And I figure I should stay true to my title, ya know?  So for me to bend my own rule and gush and gab about a particular piece, well ... it's gotta be pretty darn special.  Like this kinda mesmerizing Free People stunner.  So sparkly, I just had to make an exception.  And it doesn't hurt that its got my pretty-obvious-by-now new(est) obsession for gold sequins all over it either ...

Small Change

I have had the same small snap-it-closed purple-y wallet for as long as I can remember now.  Sure I'll change purses to fit my many moods, on an almost daily basis, but never my purple-y receipt eater.  Call it habit since hardly anyone except the nearest ATM sees me pulling it out anyway.  So I think it more than high time (and so totally warranted) for me to leave my habit-forming wallet-y ways behind me for good.  And why not go for the gusto in the polar opposite buying department and grab a super shiny buy instead, hm?

In The Bag

The fine folks over at Miche sent me some of their fab bags to try and I'm sincerely smitten.  It all starts with a beautiful base (I received both the Demi and Classic, pictured above) that I completely fell for in all its lbb - little black bag - glory, adorning it with some bling-y 'Bs' I just happened to have lying around; then the oh-so-stylish shells are next (this lucky lady getting some for both her gifted styles) and lastly, the accessories (handles, etc.)  And when all is said and done, with just one purse purchase (and some shells), you could be getting endless amounts of possibilities; in my case, I got six purses for the price of two.  What a deal!  So go find where your nearest store is or order online.  'Cause when you do, your perfect purse will be in the bag.

Brow And Then

You know those itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny baby fine brow hairs you can't ever seem to get with tweezers alone?  I'd all but thrown in the towel on this frustratingly tiresome task when I was oh-so-graciously gifted with Nad's Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper.  One swipearoo here and a tiny tug there and - POOF! - they performed an amazing disappearing act.  And haven't been back since.  But if they do decide to return, I'll be ready for 'em.  With my own little magic act and wand in hand.

Form + Function

It's super duper rare that I'll stalk or spy a certain style something waiting for it to go down in price 'cause this bargainer ain't known for her patient ways when it comes to her 'gotta-have-its'.  But if I do, and go back to buy, it's hardly ever there (I figure that's the bargain gods way of telling me 'told ya so').  But sometimes I do decide to play a round of the waiting game.  Just to tempt fate.  And this pictured pretty is my latest proof.  Because I checked my local TJ Maxx for months - months, people - for that bright red clearance sticker to be stuck on the seventy dollar price tag of this dress form.  And it finally happened.  Down to forty dollars.  And now she sits, all sparkly and shiny, proving that some things really are worth their 'wait' in gold sequins ...

Peter Pan Complex

I've got a Peter Pan complex.  Of the collar kind.  Bad.  Like, it's the only design I'll ever really want resting on top of any of my blouses ever again.  Seriously.  It's a problem.  And you would think the fact that the sheer blouse pictured up there is out of stock would stop this fancy-collared fantasy of mine, wouldn't you?  Well ... it doesn't.  Not even in the slightest.  'Cause I scoured and searched (ok ok, so it was the same site) and finally came up with this sequined solution.  Now all of my blouses really will have this oh-so-specific collar resting on top of them.  Now and forever.  Just how I dreamt it to be ...

Scissor Sisters

I know I've talked at length (hardy har har) about my recent decision to chop off my hair, but the experience was so sisterly super, I thought I'd relay the story one more time here.  Armed with desired 'do photos - here's mine - we entered a Super/Master/Great Cuts.  And left with much shorter, more manageable manes.  And as my cape was flying off, my sis asked who that lady was that I liked so much ... T-i-l something or other ... 'cause that's just who/what I looked like.  I wanted to jump up and run over and give her a big ol' smooch for I could only hope to look as half as cool as T-i-l ... d-a Swinton.  But figured a sly little smirk would have to do.  And it did.  And does.   Still.

Ear To Ear

I wanna bring earmuffs back into the style mainstream.  I do.  I totally do.  Only because I have a newfound accessory appreciation for them now that I'm looking for more ways to cover up mine from (my/the) recent haircutting cold.  And possibly because I have found many a pair I'd like to rock around the clock this blistery season.  But can you blame me?  Really?  When they come in bright blues, furry prints and crocheted cutenesses?   I rest my case.

Bootie And The Feets

Before we know it, it's going to be Santa's turn to come and visit.  Which means with him comes that white stuff, the 's' word that I don't even like to say aloud for fear it may start to freely fall from me just word-willing it so ... snow.  (I literally just shuddered a bit at the thought).  But I'm bound and determined to be prettily prepared for it this year by (hopefully) buying and pulling on these booted beauties to welcome it and him in when they do ...

The Cream Team

With November comes the inherent need to instantly 'cozify' your closet around these parts.  No pant, top or dress is safe any longer to just exist on its own.  Oh no.  Now it must have something super thick (preferably knitted) wrapped up in, on or around it (more than once) at all times to complete it.  This year being no different.  Nopey nope.  At least not with me.  So to start things off, I plan on incorporating one color and one color only into heavy repeating rotation: cream.  Yesiree.  And maybe, just maybe, also so I can tell everyone that I'm a member (like Miss Veronica up here) of The Cream Team.

Keeping Up Appearances

Apparently I've picked up quite the penchant for literal-themed wears lately.  'Cause as soon as I saw this insanely cute puppy dog sweater, I just knew that I had to have it.  Why?  Because I have a pair of those exact same boots, but in navy blue, sitting at the bottom of my closet as I type this post.  Um, yeah.  And how gosh darn adorable would it be to be wearing it with rolled sleeves, some cuffed jeans and those boots right now?!  Word.  Wait a minute.  Does that mean that I'm gonna have to get me a similarly sweet-looking pup now too to keep up with all future wardrobe appearances?  Uh-oh, spaghettios ...

Coat Check

For all my pooh-pooing on the subject of why-oh-why do I live in such a state (Utah) of perpetual chilliness where one season (winter) seems to dominate, I'm beginning to realize I sure do find I have a lot to talk about, stylistically and sartorially-speaking when it comes to the layering capabilities that seem to come along with it each year.  Especially the coats.  A girl can never have too many, in my opinion.  That's why I'm gonna start this year's collection off early-ish.  First with this trenched jacket I nabbed for half off - half off! - this weekend, then hopefully followed oh-so-soon by this terrific little tapestry number.  'Cause a girl's always gotta be keepin' herself in proper (coat) check.

Weather Girl

Due to my current coif's cut(ted) state (having let it out via Twitter that some serious scissor action was taken to my mop top late last week) I have realized that this girlie-girl is in total desperate need of some proper ear-warming attire to wear for the any-day-now wintry weather a-comin' since I no longer have lengthy hair to cover and heat mine; with this particularly toasty-looking, pom-topped pretty immediately catching my attention and needs.  And the 'Hey I've got some similarly sizable tortoise-y specs' photo epiphany that went right along with it about how I could pair 'em with this nifty knitted topper just (forever) sealing this particular deal all the more  ...
